Thankfully, I'm learning a lot about why past games were so satisfying in comparison to this garbage. It's why all the combo video advertising was such a turn off. This isn't even the first game to iterate on RCR/DNM, so why enemies block and you have to pick low damage throws or tight juggles is beyond me. It's not even nostalgia, if you play the past games and iterations of Downtown Nekketsu/Double Dragon, enemies have very specific work arounds that yield good damage that are balanced around defensive counter measures they have. I was able to look passed a lot of things because it was a labor of love from a small team from what I can tell.īut once you beat Wes the game goes fill pants on head retarded with unnessary sci-fi (I see you Slick Trick but you were the line) and kinda meta story where it touches "Oh you're in a game." But then sorta lets go of it? So I feel that that is kind of a Spit in the face of its legacy and everything it's built up to this part. I was able to look passed the whole "Remember the 80/90's?!" references that plague most indie pixel games these days. I thought Otis was great with his animations of football players and stuff and I would have loved to see more from the other OG bosses but we got none of that. It could definantly do without stupid "Chase bosses" like why did they have to run? Just make them actual bosses. I thought the game was good for the most part up until the end. I will admit I do have Nostalgia for River City, Crash 'n' the Boys and Kunio-kun but I'm not easily swayed by rose tinted glasses. I'm pretty sure people have been done with the nostaglia for a while now. Originally posted by Skornsoul: we all done with nostalgia? Can we actually start to discuss this game in a real manner and actually highlight the terrible things about it? Instead of measuring from the balls and telling people to "Git gud nub!" "I beat the milk mission before it was patched!" and my favorite "Just use Glenn or just juggle all teh things!" Can we now actually bring to light all of the things that are SUCKING THE FUN OUT OF THIS GAME? I liked it better as a "rescue" type game. The whole game just does a 180, jumps the shark and runs straight to crazy town.in a bad way. Youre not alone in thinking what you think. The last chapter of the game is &u11$#17 and the fact that were just now getting to actually talk about it over the Autistic screeching of the E-Peen achievement crowd is absolute p00p00. The cheap hits, incoherent mission blathering, the almost simpleton design choices for mission completion, the "where the h311 do I go" factor, no money in the overly difficult last part, and the glitchy final boss that seems to be able to generate whtever glitch he wants from appearing upside down to just strike bombing you to oblivion all the way back to becoming invulnerable to attacks briefly and randomly. Its not just the last boss that just makes you want to play ANY OTHER GAME IN YOUR LIBRARY! Its all of it together. Couple this together with the missing, incorrect, and at times completely incoherrent moves list and youve got a future Angry Video Game Nerd episode in the making. The AI is ridiculous and makes you work double hard for what you should and then doesnt even have the decency to drop you some spare change. WHY ARE THE TRASH MOBS HARDER THAN ANY OF THE BOSSES? Multiply the fact that the enemies go full ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard and just stonewall you. The timers, that infernal buzzing, the last boss, the flim flam s just a mess. Its a dirty, muddy, blood filled, and entirely unnecessarily difficult, confusing glitchy mess. we all done with nostalgia?
